| Basic Information
The
Speed Loader 1000 was released in 1999 by a company called Wild Water
Weapons (W3). It is not very well known, but the company and the
guns they made (1999-2001) until they went out of business were a
faorce to be reckoned with, and this is one of them. The gun used
CPS technology and a special fast filling device to fill it (it was
actually made before Super Soaker came up with it). Sadly, since
Larami had the CPS patent, they instead of ripping their CPS system
took out their quick fill system which made the company not able to
produce guns anymore as the quick fill device was the only way to
charge them up. The gun is basically a slightly oversized pistol,
and a good one at that, capable of packing quite a punch in a small
package.
The Gun
The
Speed Loader 1000 is a fairly small and compact sized gun. The
gun looks very good, with a mostly red body mixed in with yellow.
So what, not exactly very good to hide with, but after all, these are
only little plastic guns at the end of the day. The gun since its
a pistol isn't as intimidating as other large weapons, however, size
isn't everything on this gun.
The
firing chamber is basically the reservoir on this gun since it relies
on the quick fill device to pressurize it and fill it up. Its
just about under half a litre which isn't too bad, but again its
limited compared to other larger weapons and some other guns of a
similar size. This means that if you fire too much then you'll
run dry pretty quickly.
Holding
this gun feels very good. Its very light and is built to
last. The grip is nice and the whole thing is just so simply put
together. Nothing wobbles around on it or feels unsturdy, so if
in the case of any drops I'm pretty sure the gun will be fine.
This
gun has no pump as mentioned a bit before. The idea of Speed
Loader (hence the name) is the fact you don't pump, you just plug the
gun to the hose connection for a few seconds, and when its full your
ready to go and blast until the last drop. This has the advantage
that while everyone else pumps you can just soak them. However it
means to work you need to be near the quick fill device, as if your not
then the gun is useless.
The
trigger on this gun again like the rest is very strong and is built to
last. I can't imagine it snapping. It is a little harder to
pull but you can still do it fine with no problems, this is probably
due to the fact its made stronger. The handle as stated around
the trigger is also very good.
The
Speed Loader 1000 has only one nozzle setting rated at around 3x.
This, for a pistol, is fairly big and for the size of its firing
chamber lasts for a while too. Its a pretty soaking stream too
which is always good.
The
gun even has a little pressure gauge on the other side which is like on
guns like the CPS 2000, 2500, 3000, 3200 and 4100 is on the end of the
firing chamber, only this time its on a quick fill gun.
Performance
For
a pistol, this is one heck of a powerful and drenching pistol. I
think out of all the pistols I've seen and this one puts them all to
shame. The power, range, and output are even better and more
powerful than guns like the SC 500, 600, WWF Undertaker and Stone Cold,
and they are all bigger and use CPS! The range for a pistol is
also very good. Getting just over 35 feet is amazing for a gun
this size and again outdoes guns similar and a little bigger in
size. A solid and drenching stream like mentioned before, this
all adds up to great performance.
Battle Endurance & Tactics
Now,
this gun might have the power, range and output. However, one
thing this gun doesn't have is a lot of water, which means conserve as
much as you can in a big battle. Also, if your in a battle with
no quick fills are allowed don't even use this gun, as that's the only
way of filling that it relies on. If you use it and plan on going
out in battle then go for small guns your size or ones that are larger
that are weak, but remember, be conserving, even doing its going to be
hard with about half a litre and 5.6 seconds of shot time. That's
why it could be better either using this as a sidearm (if you use
pistols, I don't really use them so I don't really do that), or used
near a base where your practically next to your quick fill and
water. Doing this means you can be very effective defending your
area with other users, as its got range, soakage, power and quick
refill time.
If
you decide to use this gun, then you can be very nifty with it due to
its light size. It would be best used for quick attacks and
quickly retreating perhaps to an even bigger trap of more power, longer
lasting guns. Again, base defending or using it as a sidearm is
good for all this. Just be careful of large CPS guns and don't go
crazy on the trigger otherwise you'll be pretty on tip toes. Tap
shots come in here at all times unless you've got protection.
Fighting
against this gun with the right guns can be quite easy. However
don't underestimate this pistols power. It delivers long range
soaking streams with CPS force so it can rush you. Make the user
just use his/her water up fast and then you'll be able to pick them
out. Using a fairly big CPS or even strong all round consistant
XP's like the XP 310, or even more recommended a Max D 6000 will make
things hard for the user after a while. Trying to gets round its
base defence isn't easy, however again since it can't hold much it
might not be able to keep up after a while.
Overall
The
Speed Loader 1000 is a very good little pistol. I would consider
it the best pistol I've had (despite not being a pistol fan) just due
to its great range, power and soakage combined with good looks, feel
and simplicity. Sadly, its not very well known, what's even more
surprising is that this is actually the only Speed Loader 1000 review
on the net at the moment, that's how uncommon Speed Loaders are these
days. They have so much glory yet it sort of goes unoticed.
Great fun to use in general and in battles for certain parts, it gives
you the feeling that even though you have a pistol, its no ordinary
puny pistol, its a high powered CPS pistol that can cause surprises and
make a lot of other pistols look pointless.
I
highly recommend getting one if you come by one. They are pretty
rare, but most of the time, all the Speed Loader guns I got so far
(including this) weren't very expensive due to the fact most people
think they aren't important and stick to Super Soaker, and the fact
that they mostly appear when nobody really looks. Its best how
they are quite cheap, and even better, cheaper than all the new mostly
underpowered and gimmicky soakers out today, yet with far more power
and soakage like the past years. If you see one of these, or any
Speed Loader gun, buy it, and never look back. Just remember,
when buying one, make sure the quick fill device come with it!
Pros
+Looks good +Good size and feel +Great power, range and soakage for size +Very strong build +Nice colours +Fills up fast +Not very expensive +Fill gauge
Cons
-Quick fill only -Small reservoir/firing chamber volume -Hard to find nowadays
