| Basic Information
The
CPS 2500 was the replacement for the CPS 2000 being part of the
legendery 1998 line of CPS guns. Compared to the first version
CPS 2000 it was toned down in power. However the CPS 2500 still
offered very good power as well as a nozzle selector which made
conserving and control much easier. This again is another gun
that is classed as one of the best Super Soakers' made, becuase of its
design, power and range. These features have made demand for the
gun high and will continue this trend. And its also the second
most powerful stock soaker made right after the CPS 2000.
The Gun
The
CPS 2500 is a big, intimidating and long blaster. Very similar to
its predecessor the CPS 2000. It has the same intimidating rifle
style and shape. Only difference being the colour. While
still retaining the grey, the other purple parts are now red.
There is also a nozzle selector at the front, which makes a little
difference in looks, and a much bigger difference in battle use.
The
gun stores a good amount of water at just over 100oz. A lot more
than most guns of today, and on par with guns of its time including the
CPS 1500, 1700 and 2000. The gun isn't heavy to me either,
everything is well balanced making carrying it easy.
Carrying
this gun is comfortable. It doesn't weight you down and feels
good when using, soaking your opponents. The gun is probably one
of the strongest built guns there. It has a very robust design
that can take a fair few thrashings. Like with a lot of other
though in its time, the strap isn't the best, its not the most
comfortable and can brake off while using. Although you can get a
better strap and make it much better on the gun for you.
The
firing chamber of the CPS 2500 holds a decent amount of water at around
20oz. Its not as much as others, although it still gets the job
done at the end of the day. The power it also gives is still very
powerful, which sums up the 1998 line of CPS soakers anyway.
However, as usual, with big guns like this, don't get too trigger
crazy, as the large output and power will drain resources quickly.
The
pump is pretty much perfect with no issues at all. Its great
being tracked, is built solid and is easy to handle, getting a good
amount of water in per stroke. However due to the large firing
chamber it takes a while pumping, however like said on other guns like
the CPS 1500, 1700, 2000 and 2700 similar to the 2500, they all take
take around the same amount of time to pump.
The
trigger feels solid and is easy to pull without fear of breaking.
However some reports claim the the unbalanced areas of seam can cause
thumb cuts on some models, although on the ones I have I see no signs
of this.
The
CPS 2500 has a very good range of nozzle settings, which range from a
conserving yet still soaking 5x, to a medium all round consistant 10x,
to the dreaded and complete destruction of the 20x nozzle. No
matter which one you are at the receiving end of, either way you'll get
drenched.
Performance
The
CPS 2500 performs very well and is very consistant. It outpowers
every stock soaker made apart from the first edition CPS 2000.
This gun is a force to be reckoned with and not to
underestimated. Huge output, high power and long range will soak
the opponents in one shot. The impact this also gives on
opponents is hard hitting. Combine this with good range at nearly
50 feet you've got a pretty fearome soaker in your hands. This
means that if you haven't got a gun that is on par (not too many are
compared to the CPS 2500), then you should watch out. With 3
different powerful nozzle settings combined with large firepower and
range this is a great performer.
Battle Endurance & Tactics
Even
though you have the flexibility of 3 different nozzle settings that
vary in lots of different situations, you still need to go steady on
the trigger. In long battles then tap shots are a must. If
you just hold down the trigger you'll eat up your supply very quickly,
turning the advantage you had to your competition upside down and
putting yourself in a much worse situation. You have range to
your advantage which will make opponents think twice before attempting
something on you. One last thing is that you need to be careful
with your shots, as the firing chamber on the CPS 2500 is less than
other guns like it including the CPS 1500, 1700, 2700, 3000 and 3200
(there is the CPS 2000 as well, but that is a much more unpractical
gun). While this is a disadvantage in some ways, if your fighting
against people with guns such as the CPS 1500 or 1700, then you have
the advantage of more shots per tank, as with a CPS 1500 and 1700
conserving is a little harder. With the other guns however, well
they can go longer than the 2500 (especially the 3000 and 3200), the
2700 you might just be able to keep up with, although it could be wise
to have a back or something when needing to refill before it if the
time comes.
This
would be a wise choice to use in a battle, as you can do a lot with
it. While this gun is more bulky than the CPS 1500 and 1700, thus
reducing the mobility, you have power, range and flexibility to your
advantage, which makes a lot of other gun users want to stay out of the
way and think a little bit more before doing something. Using tap
shots (unless playing for fun where you can refill all you like) are
vital for the more tactical and on the edge battles. If you do
this then the CPS 2500 can last a while before going completely, and a
lot of other guns will probably run dry before your gun does.
Just watch out for any CPS 2700's (you can just stay in competition
with it at lasting long if your good with your supply), 3000's and
3200's. I should watch out most for these, as these two being
backpack guns can go a lot longer. It is also always best to pump
after each shot to stay on a consistant lot of water in the firing
chamber. The least thing you want is if you have a perfect shot
but don't have enough water pumped in your firing chamber to support
the full power of the nozzle your firing on, which will then leave you
vulnerable if it all goes wrong.
Fighting
against the CPS 2500 can be hard. You'll need a gun similar to it
like the CPS 1500, 1700 and 2700 to compete with its overall great
blend of features. Using a CPS 3000 or 3200 up close against one
isn't the best of idea, as since they hold lots, it reduces your
mobility a lot compared to a 2500. You can overcome it though,
you just have to keep your head and not waste water. Try and make
the 2500 user waste their water by being agile and staying a bit out of
range, take advantage of the bulkiness and never stop in one place,
just keep moving. The 2500 has a smaller firing chamber than the
1500, 1700 and 2700 and can use up water at a fast rate if the user
goes too crazy on the trigger. However the 1500 and 1700 have
less shots per tank, so being quick is the key and constantly making
the user fire and miss you is needed. If you don't have these
guns, then your skill will play more of a part, or tactically getting
other team players if its a big battle in to rush the user is another
good option. You could also rush it with an SC Power Pak, as it
needs no pumping, although this gun is QFD (Quick Fill Device/Hose
Dependant) only, and uses up its water at an incredible rate on its
large nozzles.
Overall
The
CPS 2500 is an excellent soaker, and considered one of the best stock
guns made. No comment there. Its got a great amount of
features that blend nicely. Power, range, soakage and
intimidation make this one great gun. While their are a few
problems with it, the pros outweigh the cons massively. I like it
better over the CPS 1500 by a slight bit (doesn't matter which one you
get though, both great). This is great for probably every battle
and beyond, giving your opponents a hard and enjoyable time getting
soaked. Great entertainment.
I
highly recommend you buy one if you have the chance. They aren't
cheap nowadays, but they are worth the price totally. Being part
of the legendery 1998 line of CPS guns, you know your getting something
good.
